Health

Our Main Ideas:
  • Require fresh ingredients and reduce the quantity of processed foods and ingredients in all dining halls.

  • Ensure access to Catholic counselors for Catholic students

  • Expand access to trainers for injuries outside of sports

  • Live heatmap for the Kane

Mission Statement

There is an ancient Roman proverb: Mens sana in corpore sano, meaning Strong mind in a Strong Body. As a university- a place of community, study, and personal excellence, we need to ensure everyone is given the right resources to suit their health needs both on and off campus.

What Forge is most dedicated to is fuel. Your body is a temple; whether you’re working out, participating in athletics, or just living your life, you need the right food, made with the right ingredients to allow you to live and operate at a high level. This means prioritizing protein for those who seek a greater protein-rich diet. It also means transitioning away from processed foods and seed oils towards healthier ingredients and food options (tastier, too!). We want to ensure that all diet restrictions are continually observed in a delicious and nutritious way- no one should feel like they’re missing out for having to follow their dietary needs.

Other than food, we want to open the doors wide to those who want to see what their bodies are capable of. For athletes and non-athletes alike, we want to improve the Kane center with a live heatmap- that means you can check from your phone whether or not the gym is packed. This way, hours can be more consistently distributed by people- no more fighting over the squat rack, and more PRs.

In addition, we want to expand access to Catholic counselors for students who don’t feel that their needs are represented. Everyone who wants or needs mental health support should always be able to get it. They shouldn’t have to compromise with any individual whose advice may adversely affect the student seeking support. It’s never a bad thing to have the mental health conversation. We would like to work to destigmatize seeking mental health help on campus and support everyone who would want or need it.
